Learning Guitar 2020

Thinking of learning guitar in 2020 ? Maybe as a new years resolution or something you have always wanted to do. Then there is no time like the present. Before purchasing a guitar make sure you are comfortable sitting with it. This could be in your lap for many hours if you start to really enjoy playing guitar.

Acoustic or Electric

Acoustic or electric is really down to the individual on what style they want to play. They both essentially have six strings. Lots of people start with acoustic before going electric. However a steel string acoustic can be much harder on the fingers to start with so maybe you would want to take this into consideration. Guitars over the years have not really changed that much. The electric guitar I would recommend would be a Yamaha Pacifica you can buy these by clicking HERE These are fantastic guitars for the money

For an acoustic guitar once again I would go with Yamaha and this would be a Yamaha Apx600 you can find these by clicking Here. Once again these are great guitars. However I still recommend trying before you buy them. Make sure you are happy with the guitar and its comfortable. There is a lot of guitars out there.

Time

The other thing you really need won’t cost you a penny. It is also the thing that people find most difficult to spend, and that is time. You will not buy yourself good on a guitar. You can have the greatest guitar and set up in the world, but the only thing that will make you sound great on guitar is the time you are willing to spend on it. There is no shortcut to playing guitar. No guitar teacher can sprinkle magic dust on you to make you play like Slash, Hendrix or whoever your chosen favourite guitar player is. Playing guitar is all about how much time you are willing to spend on the instrument. This is the same for any instrument or anything else in life you want to be good at.

Practise

I don’t like the word practise I see it as playing. Practise is a horrible word that brings to mind learning times tables as a child. Please don’t practise your guitar play it. To start with you will need 15 to 20 mins a day playing time. This will get you moving in the right direction. for children I would be looking for 10 to 15 mins per day. I hope this post has helped out and remember it is never too late to take up an instrument. To book a lesson and get things moving go to my contact page HERE
