Andy Neville’s Guitar Workshop

I get asked many times who I recommend and who I trust to work on my guitar’s and I highly recommend Andy Neville’s Guitar Workshop In Wolverhampton. Andy is based in Fryer Street Wolverhampton. You can contact him 07792 785628 or check him out on Facebook by clicking HERE. I have known Andy many years and for my students local to Wolverhampton this is the man for guitar setups and repairs.

One Way Music

Andy worked in One Way Music for many years. This must have been the longest running music shop in Wolverhampton. I have been going in and out of there for advice on all things musical since I was around 11 years old. From guitars, and amps to microphones P.A’s and everything in between. The shop closed its doors for the last time just a few weeks ago. This is a massive loss for the musical community of Wolverhampton.

The shop suffered after Wolverhampton Market was demolished. Then adding to this the rising costs of also keeping the shop open in the city centre. This eventually took its toll and sadly ended the business. One Way Music will be remembered for many years. It will become part of Wolverhampton’s music history.

New Beginnings

So, its new beginnings for Andy in Fryer Street in The Cellar Rooms. I am sure Andy will continue to give advice and repair guitars for many years. I am a firm believer that people who are good at their craft will always have work. Here is a price guide for Andy’s work

  1. Hi Andy

I recently purchased an xotic xsc-2 secondhand for £2000 . Original price was £2799 . I have the original receipt as well .

It seems I have an issue with the frets . It’s a roasted maple fretboard but the last 3 frets have come up near the heel joint . It’s not particularly bad , but means can only have the action so low to avoid it buzzing on those frets .

Is there anything you would suggest ? It seems that for a guitar in that price range you wouldn’t expect these issues , especially with it being a roasted maple .

I had a tech look at it and he said it’s not too bad , he’s seen worse and reckoned it was pretty common issue on guitars even custom shop .

Said in the case of mine , action is set up for standard strat playability . If I wanted it any lower then those frets would have to be stoned .

The person I bought it off claims he wasn’t aware of this issue . I guess it’s not something that noticeable until you get a tech to look at it .

    Any advice would be appreciated
