Kick Up The 80s

This is currently the band Anthony plays guitar in. It is the longest running 80s tribute band in The U.K. Anthony joined Kick up the 80s in 2000 after a 10 year stint with Tranzam a classic rock tribute band. Before joining Kick up The 80’S he also played in The 7Teez a popular 70’s tribute band. This was with the Bass player from Tranzam and the drummer from Kick up The 80s. This was set up as a project in order to play more gigs. Anthony has been gigging since he was 15 years old doing his first gig in a school in Cannock with Martin the drummer with Kick up the 80s.

Tribute Bands

Before playing with Tribute bands Anthony also played with Razor Edge. Full Confession and Shiver. Shiver had radio play and media coverage. However never got the break that they needed. From there Anthony was asked to go for an audition to join Tranzam. He only went to the audition to learn what this locally successful band was doing. He was offered the job on the spot after playing just one song. Knocking at your back door by Deep Purple. Tranzam was at the time the only Classic Rock Tribute band around. They had been auditioning guitarists for months. The previous guitarist had left to join Budgie to do a tour of USA. Budgie were a big influence on Metallica and was part of The New Wave Of British Heavy Metal. Tranzam had full lighting and P.A also a full gig diary. This was a massive step up for Anthony. He decided to take the job as this was a great opportunity.
